Increasing the production capacity of our consumables in terms of quantity was one of the latest challenges at Trasis. But our processes are being carefully analyzed to increase the rate at the same time. The objective? To meet market demand in terms of volume, robustness, and quality.

The industrialization department, a major asset

The industrialization department is a key department and has been working hard to provide a robust and secure response to our reagent and consumable supplies. After contributing to the clean room extension project, which quadrupled production volumes, Fabrice Prenten, Process Method Transfer & Validation Manager, is working hard with his team on the continuous improvement of our manufacturing processes. Optimizing the time and ergonomics of the production operators’ workstations is his leitmotiv. Each gesture, each document filled out, each route is analyzed: a perpetual questioning to meet the tense demand of the market.

The semi-automation of our production processes

The review of the production processes articulates the work to reinforce the efficiency of the teams. Semi-automating certain operations is a key parameter for increasing the rate of production. “We have installed a certain amount of equipment in the bottle filling and transport technologies. These two devices have an immediate impact on the efficiency of operations as well as on the ergonomics for the team” explains Fabrice Prenten, “combined with the synchronization of manual operations, we can thus double certain production rates”. A semi-automation that will continue to develop in the future, he assures.

An integrated, field-based approach

Reducing handling by automating it has been an opportunity to reorganize the work. In the field, the teams contribute to the changes. Trasis believes in participative management, and this is the key to the success of the various adaptations. In addition to the operators who relay ideas for the layout, an interdepartmental collaboration is being orchestrated, providing a global reflection of our processes.

Next steps

We will continue to go further in our responses to customer needs, both for standard and customized productions. In any case, this is the challenge that the 250 Trasis employees have set themselves. New infrastructures will also be created, skilfully combining semi-automation with continuously trained and increasingly expert production teams. To be continued…
