A major bottleneck in quality control finally addressed

Sterility testing must begin quickly after production, a challenge due to the inherent radioactivity of radiopharmaceuticals. Today, as manufacturers, you must choose between two traditional methods:

• direct inoculation (simple, but with higher risks of false negatives, operator exposure, and the need for costly infrastructure)
• or membrane filtration (reliable but demands specialized equipment and often involves complex, expensive logistics).

In both cases, the process is manual, time-consuming, and poses exposure risks to operators handling radioactive samples, not to mention the operational and financial burden of either investing and maintaining complex infrastructures or sending materials to specialized labs.

Sterinow®: In-house and automated sterility testing

Trasis has developed Sterinow®: a cassette-based solution that automates the preparation of sterility test samples using membrane filtration, directly on site. With a process developed on Trasis’ synthesizer miniAllinOne, Sterinow® simplifies this critical quality control step, ensuring regulatory compliance while improving both operator safety and costs efficiency.
